About the Courses

Are you lacking in cooking basics? This course is just for you. No professional cooking with unconventional ingredients like on other courses, but honest home cooking simple and tasty. And lots of tips and tricks to make your work easier and how not to spend half a day cooking.

You’re not sure,

  • how to cut vegetables easily and safely?
  • what does a browned onion look like?
  • how to sear a slice of meat in a pan so that it is cooked through but not dry or tough like the sole?
  • how much salt to put in soup, rice or water for cooked vegetables?
  • how thick should the batter be for a pancake and how do you know if it is already baked?
  • do you give up cooking when you see “thicken with a little flour”, “add salt to taste” or “add milk as needed” in a recipe?

Throughout the course we were given very practical advice on almost every step of the cooking process. These were details that turned out to be very useful, without me even thinking to ask about a particular step before. The course was very well designed, we managed to do a lot of things - bake a dessert, cut up and completely process a whole chicken (broth, medallions, several types of steaks). We were also given many tips on how to use different parts of the chicken. Under patient and careful guidance, everyone succeeded and gave the necessary confidence in future home-made continuation.

Courses are held in a home environment in Prague 9 - Střížkov.

What shall we cook?

  • Chicken broth (and show how to season it properly)
  • Chicken cutlets three ways (where we will learn how to carve and properly sear the meat)
  • Medallions baked in tomato sauce (which will show us how important it is to balance flavours)
  • Gratinated vegetables (which will teach you how to cut them properly)
  • Marble cake (so you know how to bake a quick and tasty dessert for a visitor)

We will be showing the process of all the dishes in detail and especially tasting them! We will taste at all stages (i.e. when the ingredients are no longer raw:-)), so you can learn how to season everything properly. And of course I will be happy to involve you in all the activities, there will be plenty of work:-)
